We are all guilty of being a little wasteful sometimes. Close to 20mil cups, plates and other utensils are disposed of every day in the UK and US, causing a vast amount of unprocessable landfill. We obviously need our tableware and no one is suggesting that we look into alternative ways of eating or socialising, but surely there is a more ‘green’ alternative? Well one company in Richmond may now have the answer.

They have developed a complete range of biodegradable and compostable tableware that can be used in exactly the same way as ordinary products. They are completely safe and can also be cleaned properly. When disposal times comes though, rather than taking them to the dump you can get rid of them with the organic waste.

The business has been commended by government and by green organizations, and it has already picked up a number of awards. New Visions, a not-for-profit organization that helps out developing companies provided them with their latest accolade.

The new company was awarded $1,500 which they hope to invest in developing their range. plates, bowls and serving spoons are some of the 15 pieces currency in the range. They are looking into making more utensils such a bottle opener and more detailed pieces like designer cheese knives

The company owner, Jocelyn Tice has spoken of her vision of making her alternative tableware available in outlet all over the world. "the benefits are simply limitless" she claimed. It will lighten the load put on waste disposal companies and will save people a lot of money and maybe even the earth.

Additional to her newest tableware concepts, Jocelyn is now researching products from various industry sectors with the hope of applying the technology there also. She has also been approached by a number of larger companies who are interested in incorporating her products into their own table and glassware
