Diseases in general dental impact

General

Two types of diseases have an impact on the tooth so-called congenital and acquired said.

The diseases are congenital anomalies of the teeth present at birth, i.e. before the tooth does its eruption in the mouth. They may be the result of heredity or disease contracted by the mother during pregnancy.

The diseases are acquired defects that affect the tooth after its eruption in the mouth. They are related to nutrition disorders of the tooth itself, caused by medication or trauma (shock).

The congenital diseases can cause two types of injuries

Hypoplasia which is a lack of development of tissues that constitute the tooth (enamel, dentin .).

Dysplasia is a disturbance at a given time, the development of these tissues.

The consequences of these diseases
In both cases, they may affect one or more teeth. They affect the quality of tissues minerals from the tooth and expose more strongly affected teeth to decay and / or fractures.
The teeth are affected, depending on the type of anomaly, take a yellowish tint, brownish or transparent.

The causes of these diseases: They are numerous and can be:

- Of hereditary;
- Of infectious diseases are contracted by the mother during pregnancy (syphilis, rubella);
- Endocrine origin: these are hormonal disorders which bore the mother;
- Of nutrition: a lack of vitamin B during pregnancy and / or insufficient quantitative and / or quality of food intake during pregnancy;
- Of drug: taking medication (type of antibiotic tetracycline) during pregnancy.
