Orthodontics: how to wash their teeth with braces?
At any age, oral hygiene is paramount. But when wearing a dental device and it follows orthodontic treatment for many months or even years rather, it is not easy to brush your teeth and be effective. What is and how? Interview with Edith Lejoyeux, orthodontist and member of the French Federation of Orthodontics.
Orthodontics and Dental Hygiene: Is it compatible?
A priori, there is an opposition between the appliance orthodontic and dental hygiene. Indeed, it promotes the accumulation of plaque, and makes it more difficult to clean teeth. But at the same time, orthodontic treatment requires regular monitoring extraordinarily. The practitioner has an influence on controlling the plaque of children by teaching them a very good brushing technique and monitor its implementation effectively.
Overall, children who are not under orthodontic treatment do to the dentist once a year, while others comes every month or every three weeks. It can therefore repeat the message hygiene and really learn good brushing techniques. Then when they come to really control the plaque, there is no concern for teeth matched. It is an advantage because even after treatment, they retain their good habits and maintain their mouths better than other children.
